Academics at SU Istanbul
The SUI program offers a unique combination of innovative SU seminars and a wide range of courses offered in English through our partnership with Bahçeşehir University (BAU). BAU Courses are available across disciplines, including the arts and sciences (international relations, political science, sociology, economics and others), design, engineering, management, communications, and transmedia, as well as Turkish and Arabic language studies.
Undergraduate program
All students participate in the 3-credit Signature Seminar, Istanbul: Crossroad of Civilizations, Past and Present . All students also enroll in the required 3-credit Contemporary Issues in Turkey seminar taught by the SUI program Director.
Students also choose three or four additional Bahçeşehir courses (see approved list ). Students may also apply for a part-time internship (1 – 3 credits) to complete their academic program.
Graduate program
Graduate students are also eligible to take the pre-semester Signature Seminar and the Contemporary Issues in Turkey course, upgraded to graduate level. They may also select additional BAU graduate courses, and undertake an internship for credit.
For graduate students in SU’s international relations program (MAIR candidates) there is also the graduate internship program , offered in the fall semester only in collaboration with Syracuse University’s Maxwell School .
